We have an exciting opportunity for a Freight Broker in Salisbury, MD. This position is responsible for performing freight brokerage services adhering to federal, state, and company regulations. This position will also develop strong business relationships and identify freight service opportunities. Generates new business that will contribute to the profit of the company. 

 

 

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  •  Performs freight brokerage services adhering to federal, state, and company regulations
  • Creates, coordinates, and manages pick-up and delivery schedules by coordinating with shippers, carriers, dispatchers, and customers
  • Track and report the shipment status of loads
  • Resolve freight discrepancies and keep relevant parties apprised
  • Works with leadership to develop new sales strategies to generate leads, improve business, and develop a sales pipeline
  • Maximizes the use of the traffic management system and utilizes all reporting capabilities
  • Evaluate and report the financial impact of motor carrier cost and rate changes 

Minimum Education

  • BS Degree (Transportation, Business Management, Business Logistics or Agriculture
  • MBA preferred
  • CTB preferred

Experience Requirements

  •  Two+ years experience 
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Understanding of commodity trading and merchandising
  • Knowledge of the motor carrier industry
  • Knowledge of motor carrier industry rules and regulations
  • Strong communication, math, analytical, and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of standard software applications and transportation software 

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

Normal Climate controlled office environment.  Able to use standard office equipment.  Able to move freely throughout the AgriBusiness facilities to include exposure to extreme temperatures (0-100 degrees Fahrenheit), humidity, (0-110%), noise (50 – 100 db), and chemicals (MSDS sheets available).  Must be able to wear personal protective equipment.  Required to travel to remote facilities and customer locations for training, briefings, and meetings.
