Summary
We are recruiting for a Manager, Internal Communications and Content Development who will be responsible for supporting the planning and implementation of various internal communications projects for Perdue Farms, that engage, support and inspire its 21,000 employees. This role is involved in all stages of communications initiatives - including concept formulation, effective storytelling, message development and strategic counsel. The successful candidate must have a strong background in internal communication, and a track record of story mining and storytelling. Must have excellent written, verbal and organizational skills, a proven ability to consistently make sound judgments, engage and build trust with business partners and effectively collaborate with others while driving measurable results.
This position will be based in Salisbury, MD at our Corporate Headquarters (relocation package available for that location for eligible candidates).
Candidates may also be based in the Charlotte, NC, Concord, NC, Richmond, VA or DC Metro areas with travel to local plants and Salisbury as needed.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide communications support on all internal communications projects, including storyline/campaign development, editing content, building the communications strategy and amplification plan, and garnering alignment across stakeholders. Ensure all messaging aligns with the corporate company vision, values and brand.
- The Manager, Internal Communications and Content Development is a key partner and influencer in the alignment of messages and activities that drive associate engagement, leadership/company visibility and voice as well as branding.
- Editing and copywriting for all internal communications.
- Assist various departments with communication needs and communication planning; act as a trusted advisor to the leadership team on communication subjects.
- Develop and execute strategies and messages to support effective, timely and accurate communications to internal and external stakeholders.
- Engage and consult with internal clients at all levels of the organization on appropriate communications tactics and programs.
- Measure communication program effectiveness and adjusting as needed.
Minimum Education and Experience
REQUIRED: Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related major plus 5-8 years in-house or agency public relations or communications experience. production.
- Candidate must be a self-starter who works well both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment and to work extremely well under pressure shifting various priorities to meet deadlines.
- A high degree of initiative, good judgment, a sense of urgency and solutions-focused.
- Detail-oriented, analytical thinker comfortable working with executive level decision makers.
- Skilled in synthesizing complex business and industry issues/concepts into relevant and compelling communications for a variety of audiences.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
- Knowledge of communication across multiple channels.
- Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Adobe Acrobat, and Adobe Creative Suite a plus.
- Strong creative skills with the ability to cater communications to a large and diverse audience.
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
- Position is mostly sedentary at our corporate office, open-partitioned, cubicle environment.
- May need to move light equipment or supplies from one place to another.
- May need to access files, supplies, and equipment.
- May require occasional travel to other offices or buildings.
The position may occasionally visit a plant facility. When in a plant environment:
- Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floor which include metal and plastic grating surfaces
- May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity
- May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit
- May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db
- May be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry/food/processing facility
- Must wear and use protective/safety equipment required for the job as directed by the company.
