Perdue AgriBusiness is seeking an Ingredient Sourcing / Buyer for our Animal Nutrition division in Salisbury, Maryland.  

 

As the Ingredient Sourcing Buyer for the Animal Nutrition division, this role is pivotal in leading the procurement strategy and operations, ensuring cost-effective and consistent acquisition of feed ingredients. The primary objective of the Ingredient Sourcing / Buyer is to optimize the supply chain processes and vendor relationships to enhance the division's profitability and operational efficiency. You will be instrumental in forecasting market trends, managing strategic negotiations, and executing procurement decisions that align with the division's long term goals. Your leadership will drive improvements in cost management, procurement efficiency, and compliance, making a significant impact on our bottom line and competitive positioning in the market. 

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Leadership in Strategic Sourcing and Vendor Partnerships:
    • Take charge of identifying and engaging with premium vendors to secure the most favorable terms for high-quality ingredients. 
    • Lead strategic negotiations, using advanced market insights and forecasting models to align procurement with long-term divisional objectives
  • Advanced-Data Management and Operational Oversight
    • Oversee the integrity and systematic management of procurement data across platforms, ensuring all transactions are executed flawlessly
    • Establish standards for record-keeping that support operational transparency and enhance strategic decision-making 
  • Expert Market Analysis for Strategic Decision Support
    • Provide expert analysis on market trends and future price movements to guide upper management in making informed procurement decisions
    • Develop sophisticated procurement strategies that minimize costs and maximize efficiency, leveraging your deep understanding of market dynamics
  • Cost Reduction and Supply Chain Optimization
    • Innovate and implement cost-saving measures that significantly reduce expenses related to logistics and supply chain management
    • Lead initiatives to enhance operational efficiencies, setting benchmarks for success within the industry
  • Commitment to Safety and Strategic Flexibility
    • Champion compliance with all safety guidelines and regulatory standards, setting an example in maintaining high ethical standards and practices
    • Demonstrate exceptional adaptability, managing diverse tasks and responding proactively to evolving business needs

Minimum Education

  • BA/BS in Business, Ag Business, Animal Science, Ag Business Management OR similar field, OR demonstrated industry related experience.

Experience Requirements

  • 5 – 10 Years previous experience procuring feed ingredients for animal nutrition.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

  • Able to move freely throughout the facility to include climbing vertical heights (0-50’)

  • Lifting up to 50 pounds.

  • Exposure to extreme temperatures (0 - 100 Degrees Fahrenheit), humidity (0 - 100%), noise (50db - 100db), and chemicals (MSDS sheets available).
