Summary

We are looking for future leaders to join us! We are actively seeking a hardworking, energetic, self-starter to join our Grain Operations team in Salisbury, MD as a Management Trainee. The Perdue Management Trainee (MT) program is an entry-level management position designed to develop talented individuals into future leaders in the company's operations management field. In this position, you will be offered the opportunity to learn and develop skills vital for a career in operations, production, logistics, continuous improvement, quality assurance, and safety. The MT program starts in June 2024.

 

Our 12-month program combines hands-on training by direct observation and shadowing, learning and development sessions, continuous improvement projects, and a series of structured departmental rotations. The MT will be fully immersed and actively participate in all aspects of business in an operational facility. Upon successful completion of the program, the Management Trainee will have the opportunity to transition into a supervisor role.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop an understanding of the merchandising responsibilities from contract to customer
  • Develop an understanding and practice of supporting the merchandising responsibilities by learning the logistics and transportation modes
  • Develop an understanding of the skills and behaviors that are required to lead a grain receiving and storage staff to include hiring, training, and developing the staff.
  • Develop an understanding of the Company and state OSHA safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Develop an understanding of the Company and state DEP environmental policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Develop an understanding of Local, State, and Federal grain warehousing requirements
  • Develop an understanding of the processes and procedures required to effectively manage inventory
  • Develop an understanding of the housekeeping requirements necessary to ensure the safe operation of a grain elevator
  • Develop an understanding of the routine and preventative maintenance required for the reliable operation of grain handling and storage equipment.

Minimum Education

Required: 

  • Must posses a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university within 12 months of the MT program starting. Program starts in June 2024. 

Preferred: 

  • Degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Business or Business Management, Logistics, or related discipline. 
  • 3.0 GPA or higher 

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

  • Able to move freely throughout the agribusiness facilities including climbing vertical heights (0 -150'), carrying tools and equipment (0-50 lbs.), exposure temperatures (0-100) degrees Fahrenheit, humidity (0-100%), noise (50db to 100db) and chemicals (MSDS sheets available).
  • Must be able to wear protective equipment to include self-contained breathing apparatus.
  • Required to travel to remote agribusiness facilities and customer locations.
