Summary

This position is responsible for catching, handling, and properly loading live chickens safely and efficiently at a specified rate so that they can be transported to the poultry processing plant for processing.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Catch 3 to 4 chickens in each hand.
  • Place 20 to 25 chickens per minute in a draw.
  • Place chickens in draw without harming the chickens.
  • Place 10 to 12 chickens in each module.
  • Required to learn every position related to catching chicken and loading equipment.
  • Work with a catching team and reporting to a team crew leader.
  • Adhere to all safety requirements including PPE, preventing, and reporting unsafe acts and conditions and Process Safety Management.
  • Adhere to Poultry Care Requirements.

Minimum Education

High School or equivalent not required but beneficial.

Experience Requirements

None

Experience Preferred

Experience in poultry processing/manufacturing environment preferred.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

When in a plant environment:

  • Exposure primarily consists variable temperatures and ambient dampness exposure.
  • Chemical exposure to carbon fuel fumes and <5 PPM of Ammonia vapors.
  • May be exposed to dust, feathers and all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility.
  • Cotton gloves required to be worn as personal protection equipment and device.
  • Requires 2 to 4 hours of constant sitting.
  • Requires 2 to 4 hours of lifting with 4 to 6 repetitions per minute.
  • Work may include lifting (up to 60 lbs), reaching, bending, pushing boxes on conveyor assembly.
