Summary
The purpose is to service, maintain, repair and adjust machinery at plant facilities to safely operate and maximize production. To supervise and direct assigned associates with technical and mechanical knowledge. Ensure all Work Orders are completed on a daily basis and turned in on time. Review all findings on the work orders, and work with the planning department to ensure corrective maintenance work orders are schedule in a timely manner. Provide feedback to Superintendent on all personnel or equipment related issues. Generally, 42 Hours Weekly as scheduled, 6am-2:30pm, by management with break periods. Overtime may be scheduled as needed and directed by management.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform regular adjustments, calibrations, and repair work in response to department demands both during production and non-production hours.
- Respond to emergency break downs and needs in a timely manner within OSHA Lockout/Tagout and Perdue safety regulations.
- Holds operational knowledge of assigned plant areas as well as position class knowledge.
- Responds to processing manager’s needs and requests on a prioritized basis, through work assignments issued by management.
- Performs maintenance functions as directed by management and directing associates assigned to crew.
- Identifies and reports any violations of the Perdue Safety and Conduct policy to management for any corrective action that may be needed.
- Complete any additional duties, assignments, tasks, or directives from maintenance management.
Minimum Education
High School or equivalent not required but beneficial.
Experience Requirements
- Reading, writing and analytical skills are required.
- 4 plus years of experience in the maintenance field.
- Must have all personal tools at all times and be able to use and operate hand tools and industrial shop equipment.
- Requires knowledge of math that relates to performing maintenance activities.
- Able to make correct calculations when completing mechanical, electrical or electronic maintenance repairs.
- Able to verify dimensions and diagrams for assembly, disassembly and troubleshooting purposes.
- Able to determine clearance of parts to ensure conformance to specification using precision measuring instrument.
Experience Preferred
- Industrial Mechanical experience or equivalent.
- Must be able to direct and supervise all class mechanics in their job duties.
- Decision making will only be made on a safety first result.
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
When in a plant environment: Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces. May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity. May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db. May be exposed to dust, feathers and all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility. Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company. Occasional exposure to carbon dioxide vapors 10ppm and chlorine less than 20 ppm. Able to stand for several hours. Work may include lifting (up to 50 lbs), reaching, bending, pushing boxes on conveyor assembly.
