Summary

This position is responsible to accurately keep flocks separated and record the number of chicks hatched by flock, process all paperwork associated with chick delivery and box count accuracy. Assist in loading conveyors with empty boxes and removing full boxes. Responsible for mixing vaccines according to the SOP. Perform all poultry carechecks on time. Ensure box count accuracy for each flock. Keep an accurate count of all culls for each flock.

This position has a base rate of $19.02 per hour, with opportunities for pay premiums, shift differentials and overtime where applicable. Annual bonus available (variable depending on performance).

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Lift 10 lb. boxes of chicks from conveyor approx.12” from the floor and stack on pallets approximately 5.5’ high, push loaded dollies weighing 105 lbs. a distance of 100ft 

  2. Keep accurate records of chicks hatched, box count and vaccine inventories. Process required paperwork for chick delivery. Perform all poultry care checks on time.

  3. Mix vaccine for spray cabinet using proper vaccine mixing procedures. Personal protective equipment must be worn when mixing.

  4. Check each flock of chicks for box count accuracy and chick quality by manually and visually checking full boxes of chicks. Be able to make counter adjustments for counting accuracy as needed.

  5. Assist in sliding empty boxes onto the box de-stacker, keeping it full at all times. Assist in sliding full boxes off of the box re-staker onto pallets. Understyand the proper operation of the de-stacker,restacker and be bale to make adjustments.

  6. Any other duties assigned by management.

Minimum Education

High School or equivalent not required but beneficial.

Experience Requirements

  • Worked a minimum of 6 months of consecutive work history

Experience Preferred

Experience in poultry processing/manufacturing environment preferred

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

1.Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces

2. May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity.

3. May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit.

4. May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db.

5. May be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility.

6. May be exposed to dust, feathers and all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility.

7. Able to stand for several hours.

8. Work may include lifting (up to 50 lbs), reaching, bending, pushing boxes on conveyor assembly.

9. Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company
