Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Landscaping and Grounds Maintenance:
- Mowing, edging, and fertilizing lawns.
- Planting, weeding, and mulching flower beds.
- Trimming hedges, shrubs, and small trees.
- Removing dead or unwanted plant life and general yard waste.
- Performing snow removal and general outdoor cleanup.
General Handyman Duties:
- Performing minor carpentry repairs, such as fixing loose boards.
- Conducting basic plumbing and electrical repairs, like replacing light bulbs or fuses.
- Assisting with masonry, stonework, or other light repairs on exterior structures.
- Maintaining and repairing various types of equipment.
- Completing a list of small, often urgent, repairs and tasks.
Equipment Operation & Maintenance:
- Operating and servicing power equipment like mowers and edgers.
- Loading and unloading materials and trimmings.
- Ensuring all equipment is properly maintained, cleaned, and in working condition.
Minimum Education
- High School or equivalent not required but preferred.
Experience Requirements
- Experience with landscaping and horticultural practices.
- Proficiency in operating various hand and power tools.
- Knowledge of basic carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work.
- Physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting, bending, and working in inclement weather.
- A valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle for transportation to different work sites (depending on the employer).
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
When in a plant environment:
- Ability to tolerate exposure to wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.
- Ability to stand for an extended period and perform repetitive tasks.
- Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs by reaching, bending, and pushing boxes.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, and ear protection as required.
- May work in an environment with varying temperatures between 28 degrees and 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
- May handle product varying in temperatures between 25 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
- May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db.
- May be exposed to dust, feathers and all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility.
- Occasional exposure to carbon dioxide vapors 10ppm and chlorine less than 20 ppm.
