Summary

Provides support for the shop with parts inventory, ordering, research parts by manufacturer and type, assist other locations by providing training and assistance to other parts associates.  

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Maintains parts inventory by ordering and creating a relationship with vendors to ensure Perdue Transportation has access necessary to ensure our fleet has parts needed for repairs.  Performs inventory tasks.  Creates requisitions for part purchases.  Provides excellent customer service to internal customers including Fleet Techicans, Drivers and management.  

• Complete requisitions for parts
• Order parts
• Receive and put parts in their proper location
• Manage stocked parts in inventory
• Scan and track all receipts in SAP to reduce blocks and insure the vendor has been paid
• Regularly research vendor pricing for cost savings
• Insure all parts are being charged out by techs in their work orders and follow up with the garage manager when they are not charged out
• Complete spot counts and quarterly inventory counts
• Track aged inventory and work with the garage manager to keep the aged inventory at a minimum

Minimum Education

High School or equivalent

Experience Requirements

0 -2 years experience in a mechanic shop parts position preferred.  Must have a valid driver's' license.   Good written and oral communication skills. Must have excellent communication skills, bringing demonstrated abilities of building solid relationships with all levels.  Proficent computer skills required.  

Experience Preferred

A CDL license is strongly preferred

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

Intermittent sitting, standing, stooping, crouching, walking, lifting of light and heavy objects. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 lbs. Required to sit, stand, walk use hands to finger, handle, feel, talk, hear, to reach with hands or arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and smell. Work is performed with exposure to noise, chemicals, noxious odors gases, poor ventilation, inclement weather, dirt, grease, dust and machinery with moving parts requiring use of protective devices.

Compensation Data

This position has a target wage of $19.20 - $24.00 per hour, based on shift, experience and qualifications with annual bonus available (variable depending on performance). Overtime may be available.
