Summary

The purpose of a Lead Maintenance Technician is to maintain, diagnose, repair, rebuild, adjust, perform preventative maintenance and install equipment within and around the facilities so as to keep the production operational and have zero loss of production chargeable to maintenance. They are also responsible for carrying out work as assigned by the Maintenance Superintendent.

Schedule: 2nd Shift (Monday - Friday 3:00pm - 2:00am; Weekend overtime required as business needs dictate)

This position has a target wage of $29.20 - $43.80 per hour, based on shift, experience and qualifications with annual bonus available (variable depending on performance). Overtime may be available. Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervise and oversee the completion of Preventative Maintenance (PM) and work orders in a timely and accurate fashion.

  • Make orderly plans for work within given time constraints to gain maximum utilization of people and equipment.

  • Arrange/order materials before jobs start.

  • Analyze reoccurring problems and develop solutions for example: Design changes in equipment and reallocation of tasks to improve efficiencies.

  • Develop a team approach to jobs being careful to assign jobs to associates that are cable of completing the task.

  • Report progress as required.  Keep the Maintenance Superintendent informed if any critical situations occur (example: catastrophic downtime.

  • Ensure proper records and charts of equipment performance percentages are maintained on a timely basis.

  • Assist other Lead Mechanics with difficulties

  • Generate work orders as necessary repairs are discovered

  • Report any personnel issues to the Maintenance Manager.

  • Report any disciplinary problems to the Maintenance Manager. The Lead Maintenance Mechanic will not be responsible for administering disciplinary action.

Minimum Education

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

  • 2 years of technical college preferred.

Experience Requirements

  • 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience 
  • Strong reading, communication math, writing, and analytical skills are required. 
  • Must possess knowledge of hydraulic systems, conveyor systems and an aptitude for industrial machinery. 

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

  • Position is active. On the plant floor activities such as troubleshooting and re-design of existing systems are routine.

  • May need to move equipment occasionally.

  • May need to access files, supplies and equipment.

  • Position requires an associate to have the ability to move throughout the complex and all facilities. .

  • When in a plant environment: Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.

  • May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity.

  • May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db.

  • May be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility.

  • Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.
