Join our team as a Blood Tester at our Brownsville, KY location!

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for having the proper amount and type of vaccines needed and all necessary equipment and supplies needed the day before the crew leaves to go out to the iob site.
  • Ensure to follow all program stipulations during all types of job activities, such as, bird housings, movements, vaccinations, beak trimming.  
  • Observes all job activities of the crew and report deficiencies, communicates all findings and recommendations to supervisor.  
  • Follows written programs and instruction while recording data and turning in reports on schedule to supervisor. 
  • Follows the schedule for vaccinations, blood testing, and drag swabs. Maintains accurate records of all activities.
  • Follows all bio-security, poultry welfare and safety requirements of the company and ensures that all other crew associates do the same.
  • Physically performs all duties required in blood testing, vaccinating, moving chickens according to written programs.
  • Drives company vehicle to and from farms and state lab.
  • Responsible for all cleaning and maintenance of eauioment/vehicles for crew work.

Minimum Education

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.

Experience Requirements

  • Strong reading, math and writing skills.
  • Effective communicator (oral and written)
  • Analytical skills.
  • Statistical background.
  • Recordkeeping and scheduling

Experience Preferred

  • One (1) to Two (2) years of previous work experience.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

  • Work environment includes, but not limited to:
  • Moving in an upright position and working on soil, wet, moist, dry, greasy floors which include concrete, metal and plastic grating surfaces with up to 4 hours in a single interval.
  • Must be able to lift, control, and carry 80 lbs.
  • Exposure to temperature ranges of <28 to 100 Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity.
  • Exposure to noise ranges to <50 db to >100 db and light intensity range of <50 to >100 foot candles.
  • Bending, twisting, lifting, reaching, sitting and grasping varies in repetitions, distances, degrees, angles, weights, height, intervals of time, objects grasped and body positions depending upon the task being performed.
  • Exposure to chlorinated water <50ppm, ammonia vapors >5ppm, caustic detergents, lubricating oils, salt and other chemicals found in poultry processing.
  • Normal exposure to chemicals listed in MSDS sheets which are available in the Live Production Office.
