Summary
Transportation backhaul supervisor will lead transportation backhaul department in the daily functions of planning and coordinating lucrative internal and external backhauls, providing additional insight to stakeholders on performance related opportunities in on-time delivery, routing, and increased revenue share. Management of Perdue Transportation and Live Production carrier contracts and insurance. Playing a supportive role Providing weekend and operations coverage in a rotational weekend supervisor schedule.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Support transportation manager on perdue transportation key initiatives and strategic goals.
Provide operations group with new approaches to solving transportation opportunities to improve on efficiency and support.
Develop and report out Key Performance Indicator dashboard weekly and monthly to operations leadership.
Develop and report out Key Performance Indicator carrier scorecard. Effectively identifying areas of opportunity and tracking carrier compliance.
Source direct backhaul customers with strong profit margins. Assess dedicated backhauls to determine if profitable fit for the company.
Identify and help to support backhaul growth in volume and revenue in identified regions for both private fleet and dedicated partners.
Support role in strategic or high-level presentations of transportation data.
Monitor/Audit insurance compliance within the RMIS portal
Facilitate transportation agreements for Perdue Transportation and Live Production.
Identify inefficiencies in carrier compliance.
Produce various customer service-related reports as needed.
Provide valuable strategic input to address on-time delivery and routing challenges to improve on opportunity.
Provide support for weekend operations on rotational weekend schedule.
Flexible work schedules (both days and hours) to handle weather, holidays, or other service disruptions.
24 hours, 7 days a week on-call basis for matters involving customer service or safety of drivers.
Ability to travel to and from facility locations.
Stand in as backup for other operations supervisors when needed.
Minimum Education
Education required: High school diploma or GED
Education preferred: College degree in a related field preferred. Experience may substitute for education
Experience Requirements
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Strong analytical skills.
Strong systems aptitude and must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications with an emphasis on Outlook, Word, Power point and Excel.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Understanding of Transportation Operations and Supply Chain Management.
Experience Preferred
3-5 years of transportation, distribution, or logistics experience; strong interpersonal, communication and project management skills.
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
Position is mostly sedentary but may require occasional moving to other offices or buildings.
Compensation Data
The salary range for this position is $63,000.00 - $79,000.00 per year, based on experience and qualifications with annual bonus available (variable depending on performance).
