Summary

Join our team as a Waste Water Operations Mechanic in Accomac, Virginia. We’re looking for dedicated individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment and are committed to upholding the highest standards of quality and safety. 

The purpose of this position is to repair, rebuild, maintain, and adjust all equipment and structures in the environmental department by use of manufacturer operation and maintenance procedures. 

Schedule is Monday – Friday, 7A – 5P with weekends and call-ins as needed.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Train, understand, and gain the knowledge necessary to maintain the wastewater and potable water systems at the complex.
  • Maintain assets in the environmental department, tracking activities through the Maximo interface for all preventative and precision maintenance conducted.
  • Maintain inventory of critical parts and accessories necessary for operation in a structured, neatly-organized manner.
  • Manage costs at or below budget by limiting the use of outside contractors and through the strategic ordering of necessary parts and services.
  • Cross-train wastewater operators in basic maintenance procedures to ensure the proper operation of all equipment/components.
  • Utilize good housekeeping techniques to maintain the environmental department in a safe, neat, and organized state.
  • The wastewater maintenance associate will coordinate and perform maintenance activities in the environmental department under the direction of the Environmental Manager II.
  • Assist the environmental manager in other assigned duties as necessary.

Minimum Education

High school diploma or GED; 2 years of maintenance-related experience; Basic computer skills.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

  • The work environment includes but is not limited to an office, a poultry harvest facility, and a wastewater treatment plant.
  • When in a poultry harvest facility or a wastewater treatment plant:
    • Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.
    • May be exposed to temperatures of 28 – 100°F with both ambient and 100% humidity.
    • May handle product 25 – 50°F.
    • May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 – 110 dB.
    • May be exposed to all chemicals found in poultry, food, processing, and wastewater plants.
    • Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job and as directed by the Company.
  • Outside walking in all weather conditions.
  • Travel throughout the complex and to other facilities as needed.
  • The ability to climb ladders and lift loads up to 100 pounds.
