Summary
Perdue is hiring a Wellness Supervisor/RN for our Bridgewater, VA location. Under the supervision of Regional Nurse Manager, this position supervises and provides the necessary medical care of all associates in their respective Wellness Centers, manages all required federal and state records for OSHA and workers’ compensation, monitors the cost associated with the operating budget of department and workers’ compensation and provides direction and supervision to Wellness Center staff.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assesses, treats, evaluates, refers (if necessary), and follows up on occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses incurred by sick or injured associates. The Wellness Center Supervisor (RN) can perform comprehensive assessments, establish nursing diagnosis’, set goals and prescribe nursing interventions to meet health care needs, evaluate the response to interventions and care plans, design and implement patient-specific education programs.
- Supervises Wellness Center staff and function to ensure quality nursing practice, patient interaction and treatment and manages costs through strategic and tactical planning and growth. Assumes responsibility for professional development and continuing education and ensure that safe care is being rendered by staff and within the applicable state’s nursing scope of practice.
- Administers and maintains occupational health program consistent with company policies and procedures to include federal and state recordkeeping related to OSHA, workers’ compensation, etc. Achieves facility goals for management of worker’s compensation costs, recordables, lost and restricted time through case management.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Manages Wellness Center areas of practice to include scheduled appointments, standard operating procedures, patients per hour, generic samples, budget & finance, etc. Oversees the daily workflow of the department to ensure efficiencies and performance.
- Establishes and monitors systems to improve health of associates and dependents through direct provision of medical care, efficiently and appropriately delivered, e.g. HIP (Company’s Health Improvement Program), health & wellness programs, annual health fairs, etc. Administers and oversees health maintenance and illness/injury prevention programs designed to educate employees on topics such as smoking, weight reduction, stress control, cancer screening, hypertension screening and control, and cholesterol levels.
Minimum Education
- Possession of a valid, unrestricted state license as a Registered Nurse.
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing or college program plus 5 years related work experience.
Experience Requirements
5 years related work experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills plus business management skills.
All healthcare staff must adhere to the company immunization policy; provide proof of training, certifications and/or license.
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
- Must be able to see, touch, smell & record findings in writing or electronically.
- Have ability to respond as needed to medical emergencies in all areas of the complex.
- Majority of work in office or clinic setting, as well as inter-facility & external environmental conditions (e.g. noise levels, changes in temperature, humidity, etc.)
- Must have ability to move throughout the processing plant & surrounding environments of the off-site facilities, such as feedmills, hatcheries, etc.
- Must wear PPE as required.
