Summary
The Fleet Transportation Supervisor will provide leadership and guidance to Perdue Transportation's Private Fleet Associates of professional Drivers. The Transportation Supervisor is responsible for the management and administration of operations for Perdue Foods and Agri-Business while reporting to the Transportation Manager. This position is responsible for managing all phases and functions of Perdue Transportation Operations including both operations and administration in support of the timely delivery of dressed poultry products for the Transportation Department.
Schedule: Monday-Friday / First shift. Perdue Transportation operates 24/7, this position requires evening and weekend accessibility via phone.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage local safety systems for driver safety to ensure drivers are meeting or above goal – LYTX, TRUCE, etc.
- Manage local compliance with DOT / FMCSA standards with Driver Physicals, Driver License Renewal, Log Violations, Uncertified Drive Time, Random and Post Accident Drug Screens
- Complete audits on driver fleet managing Pre-Trip / Post-Trip Inspection. Daily / Weekly equipment inspections on equipment. Complete daily trailer inventory on what is on the yard and validate in YMS
- Complete Ride a Long compliance – Weekly / Monthly – with new and current drivers to build relationships and provide coaching feedback on driver habits / safety concerns
- Review daily KPIs on fleet efficiency – Backhauls, Loads Per Driver, Empty Miles, Down Time, OTD
- Manage local fleet Accident guidance – Provide a thorough investigation for the weekly Incident Review Board – Provide timely feedback in person to driver on corrective counseling – No less than 7 days old.
- Complete new hire interviews in person and establish a Fleet Retention plan with current challenges and goals on how to retain new / current drivers
- Review and audit daily driver efficiency with OTD, Paperwork, and all daily expectations that the driver should be meeting. Provide constructive feedback with drivers in person and follow SOP on driver accountabilities
- Any other duties that may be assigned by Supervisor
Minimum Education
High School Graduate
Preferred: Associates Degree
Experience Requirements
Prior supervisor/management experience. Qualified candidates must have excellent organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills; general knowledge of FMCSA DOT guidelines, and detailed geographical knowledge of the Eastern U.S
Experience Preferred
3-5 years of transportation, distribution or logistics experience; strong interpersonal, communication and project management skills. Prior supervisor/management experience with a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
- Flexible work schedules (both days and hours) to handle weather, holidays or other service disruptions.
- 24 hours, 7 days a week on-call basis for matters involving customer service or safety of drivers.
- Ability to travel to and from facility locations.
- Position is mostly sedentary but may require occasional moving to other offices or buildings.
- Exposed to office equipment, outside weather conditions, shop environment
