Summary
Keep critical systems running safely and efficiently by leading refrigeration and utilities operations at the heart of the plant. As a Refrigeration and Utilities Leader, you will oversee equipment performance, coordinate preventive maintenance, and guide team members to ensure reliable operations that support production and product quality. You will partner with operations and maintenance teams to solve challenges, improve processes, and maintain a safe, compliant environment. This role is ideal for a hands-on, detail-oriented leader who thrives in a fast-paced setting and takes pride in building strong teams and delivering dependable results.
Schedule: Sunday through Thursday, 10:30pm-8:00am
Principal Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Ensure all job duties are performed within Perdue and OSHA safety procedures including Lockout/Tag and the wearing of all personal protective equipment as required.
Ensure the correct utilization of hand tools and industrial shop equipment.
Read and correctly interpret manufacturer’s equipment manuals, PM sheets and safety policies and complete all required work sheets and machine check list.
Ensure all machines are properly adjusted to operate at established performance standards.
Ensure all calibrations, repairs, diagnostics, adjustments and PM work are accomplished in a timely manner to minimize down time.
Use sound management practices in the training and supervision of associates.
Minimum Education and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Formal experience in and comprehensive knowledge of ammonia and freon refrigeration/steam boilers.
1-3 years of experience in an industrial environment.
Preferred Education and Experience
5 years’ related experience.
Physical Requirements and Environmental Factors
Work on floor conditions ranging from rough dry to wet slippery, work in a wet or humid environment and work outside in all seasonal weather (sun, rain, hot or cold).
Personal protective equipment and training provided for working with any substance considered hazardous per MSDS sheet.
Noise exposure between 80 and 110 db and light intensity between 20 – 100 f candles.
Lift weight up to 60 lbs.
Longest time in a single interval is 1-2 hours with 1-3 repetitions per minute.
Temperature exposure ranges from less than 32°F to more than 75°F.
Dampness exposure is ambient.
Walking/standing surfaces are wet, dry, greasy, and on metal grating.
Chemical exposure includes chlorinated water at less than 50ppm ammonia vapors at more than 5ppm, carbon fuel fumes, lubricating oils and hydraulic oils.
Noise exposure is 100-104.2 dB with light intensity exposure.
Tools used are knives, scissors, sharpening steel, shovel and mechanical hand tools (hammer, pliers, etc.).
Equipment operation is forklift.
Personal protection equipment/devices are hearing protection, vision protection (glasses/goggles), chain, gloves/arm guard, rubber gloves, cotton gloves, plastic sleeves, hard hat, apron, lab coat and hair net.
Longest interval of time spent walking is 2-4 hours with 10-15 repetitions per minute.
Maximum distance walked is more than 100 feet.
Walking surface is dry, wet, greasy, rough, and/or uneven.
Longest interval of time spent standing is 2-4 hours with variable mobility.
Longest interval of time spent sitting is occasional to 1-2 hours with variable up down position.
Occasional bending with 1-3 repetitions per minute.
Maximum forward angle is less than 45 degrees, maximum angle backward is less than 2 degrees, maximum angle side is less than 10 degrees.
Occasional twisting with 1-3 repetitions per minute.

Maximum weight lifted is 16-45 pounds with 1-3 repetitions per minute.
