Summary
Drive safe, efficient, and reliable transportation operations across Perdue Foods and AgriBusiness. As a Transportation Supervisor, you will lead and support a team of 50–100 Professional Drivers while overseeing critical yard assets and ensuring the seamless movement of agricultural products. You will manage 24/7 transportation operations, champion safety and regulatory compliance, and partner closely with drivers and cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional service and operational performance. Principal Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Review safety systems to ensure drivers meet or exceed safety compliance goals.
- Coach drivers who fall below industry guidelines.
- Manage compliance with all DOT and FMCSA standards for driver requirements.
- Complete audits on driver safety expectations aligned with DOT, FMCSA, and Perdue Fleet Safety standards.
- Manage trailer inventories at Perdue and third-party freezer locations.
- Facilitate new hire orientation and complete onboarding steps, including ride-along and 30-, 60-, and 90-day follow-ups.
- Review and manage daily KPI reports on fleet efficiency, including backhauls, loads per driver, empty miles, downtime, and on-time delivery.
- Review driver’s paperwork and ensure all daily expectations are met.
- Provide constructive feedback to drivers in person and follow standard operating procedures for driver accountability.
- Manage accident guidance by performing thorough investigations for the weekly Incident Review Board.
- Provide timely in-person feedback to drivers regarding corrective counseling within 7 days of incidents.
- Conduct new hire interviews in person.
- Develop and implement fleet retention plans addressing current challenges and retention goals for new and existing drivers.
- Perform additional duties assigned by leadership.
Minimum Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3–5 years of transportation, distribution, or logistics experience.
- Demonstrate strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate strong communication and project management skills.
- Possess general knowledge of FMCSA and DOT guidelines.
- Demonstrate detailed geographical knowledge of the Eastern United States.
- Possess prior supervisory or management experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or 10 years of relevant experience.
Physical Requirements and Environmental Factors
- Maintain flexible work schedules, including varying days and hours, to accommodate weather conditions, holidays, or service disruptions.
- Remain on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for matters involving customer service or driver safety.
- Travel to and from facility locations as required.
- Perform physical activity as part of job responsibilities.
- Work in environments exposed to office equipment, outdoor weather conditions, and shop settings.
