Summary

Support safe and efficient production by ensuring all cutting tools are maintained at peak performance. As a Knife Room Attendant, you will play a critical role in sharpening and maintaining knives, scissors, and other cutting equipment that keep operations running smoothly, while managing tool inventory, ensuring proper cleaning and sanitation, and supporting production teams with reliable, ready-to-use equipment. Working in a fast paced, hands-on environment, you will contribute directly to operational efficiency by maintaining organization, accuracy, and consistency in daily tasks while adhering to strict safety and quality standards and supporting sanitation efforts to create a safe and productive workplace. This role is ideal for a dependable, detail-oriented individual who enjoys active work, takes pride in maintaining high standards, and thrives as part of a team focused on performance and safety.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 2pm-10pm

Principal Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Keep all cutting utensils sharpened.
  • Keep count of tools handed out and picked up.
  • Wash cutting tools.
  • Help wash down line.
  • Adhere to all safety requirements including PPE, preventing, and reporting unsafe acts and conditions, Lockout-Tagout procedures and Process Safety Management related matters.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Must be able to fill out logs and calculate numbers.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred but not required.
  • Strong reading, writing, math skills.

Physical Requirements and Environmental Factors

  • The longest time in a single interval is 2 to 4 hours with 4 to 6 repetitions per minute.
  • Exposed to 40 to-50 degree temperatures.
  • Exposed to > 100% humidity (steam).
  • Wet and or greasy walking and standing surfaces.
  • Chemical exposure to <50 ppm of chlorinated water.
  • Exposed to <80 DB of noise.
  • Exposed to 50 ft candles light intensity.
  • Two to four hours of standing.
  • This position requires 2 to 4 hours of walking with 7 to 9 repetitions per minute a maximum distance of 25 to 49.9 ft on various types of surfaces.
  • The use of knives, scissors, clippers, sharpening steel, and a shovel are required for this position.
  • Personal protection equipment/devices as required by Perdue.
  • This position requires bending at 45-to-90-degree angles with 4 to 6 repetitions per minute.
  • The longest length of time lifting is 2 to 4 hours of lifting with 4 to 6 repetitions per minute.
  • Maximum weight lifted is 20 to 40 lbs with 3 to 5 repetitions per minute.
  • Extension reach during lift is 6 to 12 inches.
  • Body positions during lift vary.
  • This position requires 2 to 4 hours of reaching 6 to 12 inches forward and <10 degrees to the side with 4 to 6 repetitions per minute.
  • Occasionally grasping with 1 to 3 repetitions per minute.
  • Grasping of a hand tool with both hands.
  • Percentage of time in an interval grasping is 26 to 50%.
