Summary
Perdue AgriBusiness has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Grain Merchandiser in Salisbury, MD.The Associate Grain Merchandiser will merchandise and trade grain to ensure supplies for internal and external sales and maximize the profit margin of the company's grain positions.
The salary range for this position is $56,000 - $83,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications with annual bonus available (variable depending on performance). Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Originate, procure, and merchandise grain from producers and dealers
- Participate in the development of strategies, tactics, and procedures to merchandise grain
- Participate in the development of marketing strategies and programs to capitalize on identified opportunities for grain
- Develop customer relations with producers and dealers to ensure a service and reliability level that will establish Perdue as the producer’s first choice
- Ensure customers and suppliers adhere to contract terms
- Coordinate logistical requirements to ensure timely and cost-effective supply of grain
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of domestic grain market trends and competitor activities
Minimum Education
- Bachelors Degree (Agriculture, Business, Management)
Experience Requirements
- 0 -3 years of previous grain merchandising experience
Experience Preferred
- Knowledge of grain origination and procurement
- Knowledge of CBOT
- Knowledge of the futures markets
- Knowledge of basis trading
- Understanding of standard software applications
- Strong communication, math, analytical and interpersonal skills
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
- Position is mostly sedentary but may require occasional moving to other offices or buildings
- May need to move light equipment or supplies from one place to another
- May need to access files, supplies, and equipment
- Work activity is in an office, open-partitioned, cubicle environment
