Summary

We’re looking for a mission-driven, strategic communicator with a strong editorial background to join our Corporate Communications team as an Editorial Lead, Internal Communications. In this role, you’ll help shape how we communicate with our associates—to bring clarity, consistency, and purpose to the way we share information and connect people to Perdue.

With a background in journalism—ideally in television or print—you bring a strong news sense, a confident writing voice, and the ability to shape complex business updates into clear, engaging, and accessible content.

This role sits at the intersection of strategy and storytelling, working closely with internal communicators, creative partners, and business leaders to develop associate-facing content that is aligned, consistent, and purpose-driven. You’ll work alongside peers in our external communications team to ensure our storytelling is consistent, aligned, and reflects the values that guide our work—both inside and outside of the organization.

The Editorial Manager, Internal Communications will play a central role in building trust, deepening understanding, and strengthening alignment across the organization by delivering communications that reflect our values: Quality, Integrity, Teamwork, and Stewardship. Whether developing day-to-day communications, shaping our narrative across multiple channels, or contributing to leadership messaging, this role helps ensure our voice reflects who we are—and who we aspire to be.

The salary range for this position is $97,000 - $145,000  per year, based on experience and qualifications with annual bonus available (variable depending on performance).

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Editorial Content Creation: Write and edit impactful internal content for email, intranet, leadership communication, and events—ensuring clarity, consistency, and relevance for associate audiences.
  • Channel Development & Collaboration: Conduct research to understand intranet user needs and maintain a good understanding of industry best practices and new technological opportunities, including collaboration tools. Partner with designers, digital leads, and campaign owners to align content with the right channels and formats for maximum reach and comprehension.
  • Messaging Strategy & Narrative Development: Translate business priorities and complex topics into accessible, associate-centered messaging that aligns with company goals and culture.
  • Leadership Communication Support: Shape executive messages, talking points, and presentations to help leaders connect authentically and consistently with associates.
  • Editorial Tools & Templates: Create and maintain messaging frameworks, toolkits, and writing guides that support consistent voice and tone across business units.
  • Internal Campaign Support: Contribute to multi-channel campaigns that build awareness and engagement for company initiatives, values, and change efforts.
  • Content Standards & Brand Voice: Ensure all communications reflect high editorial quality, brand alignment, and adhere to our internal content standards.
  • Metrics & Insights: Track performance and engagement data for internal content and campaigns. Use insights to inform content strategy, optimize delivery, and continuously improve impact.

Minimum Education and Experience Required

Required:

Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or a related field.

Experience: 5-10 years of experience in journalism, editorial content creation, or internal communications; strong preference for candidates with broadcast journalism or newsroom experience (print journalism backgrounds also valued):

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with a clear, concise, and associate-centered voice, and proven ability to translate complex or technical topics into accessible, engaging content.
  • Editorial discipline with strategic thinking—able to connect messaging to larger business and cultural goals.
  • Strong relationship-building and consulting skills; proven ability to partner across functions and with leaders at all levels.
  • Proficiency with content management systems and intranet platforms (e.g., SharePoint, Zoom, Slack), with a solid understanding of internal communication channels, content workflows, and message planning.
  • Experience using data analysis and reporting to measure communication effectiveness and inform content strategy.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with design and creative teams to enhance content through visuals, video, and graphics.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of email marketing and audience segmentation for internal campaigns.

Preferred:

Industry experience in agriculture, food production, manufacturing, or other operational environments a plus.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

  1. Positions at Corporate are mostly sedentary but may require occasional moving to other offices or buildings, or support in facilities when they are deployed to a site. 
  2. May need to move light equipment or supplies from one place to another.
  3. May need to access files, supplies and equipment.
  4. Work activity is in an office, open-partitioned, cubicle environment.
