Summary

Come join our Agribusiness team in Salisbury, MD for Summer 2026! Our Corporate Communications Internship offers students hands-on, real-world experience within the company over an 8 - 10 week period. Come experience an inside look in the world of Grain Procurement and Agribusiness. 

Our domestic and international commodity merchants trade grain across both US and international markets by leveraging a network of 45 facilities, including 4 soybean crush plants and a deep-water export terminal.

Students interested in agriculture, economics, financial markets, food logistics, and shipping will gain experience in exposure to the day-to-day operations of grain merchandising, logistics, and futures markets by working with various trading desks across Perdue’s operations.

Our Commercial Grain Internship program enables the individual to build relationships with traders and merchants by learning how to buy, sell, hedge, and process grain. This program will sharpen the intern’s understanding of economics, customer service, risk management, and decision-making. This position aims to assist in the origination and merchandising of grain for PAB and its customers.

This position has a target wage of $21.90 - $28.13 per hour, based on graduation date. Overtime may be available.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support the grain team in day-to-day tasks such as contract and load order entry and maintenance, answer phone calls from farmers, customers, and brokers, and update daily reports such as accounts receivable/payable and bidsheets.
  • Assist and potentially lead key process improvements around contract maintenance and execution, cash cycle tracking, and forecasting efficiency.
  • Assist in statistical analysis, data engineering, and reporting.
  • Assist and potentially lead key reporting improvements around internal transfers to food divisions, quality tracking, and others as they arise.
  • Participate in the July forecasting process by analyzing supply and demand, market conditions, and economic environments.
  • Visit grain facilities and gain exposure to grading and handling processes.
  • Learn key external sources such as USDA reports and industry publications to gain a broader understanding of micro and macro drivers of grain markets.

Your learning outcomes:

  • Experience in physical commodity trading.
  • Experience with futures markets, hedging, and risk management.
  • Experience in data management and reporting.

Minimum Education

Required:

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited four-year institution pursuing a bachelor's degree.

Preferred:

  • 3.0 GPA or higher

Experience Requirements

Required:

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be a rising sophomore, junior or senior currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree.

Preferred:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work well within a team setting, as well as independently.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to motivate in a team atmosphere.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

  • Able to move freely throughout the agribusiness facilities including climbing vertical heights (0 -150'), carrying tools and equipment (0-50 lbs.), exposure temperatures (0-100) degrees Fahrenheit, humidity (0-100%), noise (50db to 100db) and chemicals (MSDS sheets available).
  • Must be able to wear protective equipment to include self-contained breathing apparatus.
  • Required to travel to remote agribusiness facilities and customer locations.
