Summary

The Network Engineer II plays a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining the organization’s enterprise network infrastructure. This includes managing firewalls, routers, SDWAN solutions, wired and wireless connectivity, and network access control systems to ensure seamless and secure operations. In this mid-level position, you will apply your strong foundation in modern networking best practices while working hands on with advanced hardware and software. You will be responsible for diagnosing and resolving complex network issues in real time, helping to keep critical systems running smoothly. Collaboration is central to this role. You will partner closely with senior network engineers, IT operations, and security teams to optimize performance, enhance reliability, and strengthen the organization’s overall network security posture. This position is based onsite at our Corporate office in Salisbury, MD. The role also requires travel up to 10-20% of the time, which may include visits to other company facilities, customer or vendor locations, training sessions, meetings, and industry events. 

The salary range for this position is $68,000 - $102,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications with annual bonus available (variable depending on performance).

Principal Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Configure, and maintain LAN/WAN infrastructure, including routers, sdwan, switches, firewalls, and wireless systems.  Technology is both on prem and cloud managed.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support network-related projects and initiatives.
  • Implement and maintain network security measures, including VPNs, firewalls, and access controls.
  • Perform network capacity planning and recommend upgrades or enhancements.
  • Document network configurations, procedures, and changes.
  • Provide Tier II support for escalated network issues from both customers and junior engineers.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree with preferred emphasis in Management Information Systems or Computer Science or equivalent work experience in a similar role.
  • 5+ years in managing and deploying network devices (Routers, Switches, Load balancers, Access Points, Wireless Controllers).
  • Advanced network problem solving and troubleshooting skills including running wire captures to determine where a problem may exist.
  • Experience with network segmentation for the purpose of reducing risk to critical processes on a network.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Incident and Problem management experience.
  • SD-Wan experience, preferably with Silverpeak / Arube Edge Connect.
  • Network Certifications (CCNA or CCNP) or other equivalent network certifications.
  • Managing all types of network transport including: MPLS, Ethernet, Broadband, T1’s, LTE, and Satellite.
  • Cloud managed network experience such as Aruba Central or Cisco Meraki.
  • Cloud network experience in one or more of the 3 major cloud platforms.
  • Operation Technology network background and familiar with Purdue model for ICS.

Physical Requirements and Environmental Factors

  • Position is mostly sedentary but may require occasional moving to other offices or buildings.
  • May need to move light equipment or supplies from one place to another.
  • May need to access files, supplies and equipment.
  • Work activity is in an office, open-partitioned, cubicle environment.
  • Some work may need to be completed on-site at one of our locations, which could be in a wet\damp climate.
  • The position normally has a set schedule of Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, but at times will require afterhours and/or weekend time for planned changes and outages that arise.
