Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Network Engineer Intern to join our Infrastructure & Operations team. This internship offers hands-on experience in managing and supporting enterprise network infrastructure. You will work alongside experienced engineers to help maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize our network systems.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist in the configuration, deployment, and maintenance of network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points).
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
- Support network documentation efforts including diagrams, IP address management, and inventory tracking.
- Participate in network security initiatives such as access control, patching, and vulnerability assessments.
- Learn and apply best practices in network design, security, and performance optimization.
Minimum Education
- Must be a rising sophomore, junior, or senior currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree at an accredited university in a relevant field of study.
- Must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA or higher
Experience Requirements
- Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs).
- Familiarity with Cisco, Juniper, or simliar networking equipment is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred
- Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., Wireshark, OpsRamp, Solarwinds).
- Exposure to scripting or automation (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
- Knowledge of cloud networking (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
- Position is mostly sedentary but may require occasional moving to other offices or buildings.
- May need to move light equipment or supplies from one place to another.
- May need to access files, supplies and equipment.
- When in a plant environment: Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.
- May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity.
- May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
- May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db. to 110 db.
- May be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility.
- Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.
- May need to climb ladders.
