Summary:
Join our team as a Transportation Coordinator and play a pivotal role in keeping our fleet moving efficiently. In this position, you will be the primary point of contact for our drivers, using advanced company software to dispatch shipments and maximize weekly routes. You will serve as a vital advocate for our driver team, balancing daily logistics with the essential task of maintaining safety compliance and eligibility.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform daily dispatch functions to maintain route compliance while maximizing weekly shipments and driver miles.
- Efficiently coordinate both internal and external customer backhauls.
- Act as the central communication hub by answering daily calls and messages from drivers, carriers, and plant facilities.
- Assist fleet supervisors in maintaining driver safety compliance, including routing drivers for DOT physicals, random drug tests, and required meetings.
- Utilize specialized company software and Microsoft Office applications to manage daily transportation data.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Overtime and on-call support may be scheduled as needed with management approval.
Required:
- High school graduate or GED with 2–3 years of experience in transportation or a related field.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel) and possess a strong understanding of supply chain management and transportation operations.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential for advocating for drivers and interacting with customers.
Preferred:
- A college degree in a related field is preferred.
Environmental factors and physical requirements:
- Position is mostly sedentary but may require occasional moving to other offices or buildings.
- May need to move light equipment or supplies from one place to another.
- May need to access files, supplies and equipment.
- Work activity is in an office, open-partitioned, cubicle environment
