Daily travel to Accomac, VA or farms that service that area will be required

Summary:

Join our team as a Transportation Supervisor for Live Operations and lead the dedicated drivers who power our agricultural supply chain. In this critical leadership role, you will manage all phases of professional driver operations to ensure the safe and timely delivery of livestock, eggs, and feed. As a champion of Perdue’s values—Quality, Integrity, Teamwork, and Stewardship, you will oversee a large fleet and a diverse team across multiple locations, serving as a vital link between our hatchery, feed mill, and farm partners.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage the daily operations and administration for 50–100 professional drivers across multiple locations, ensuring 24/7 readiness.
  • Enforce strict adherence to DOT and FMCSA regulations, including hours of service, equipment inspections, and company safety policies.
  • Oversee a fleet of tractors and trailers valued between $750k and $1.5M, ensuring equipment is maintained and utilized efficiently.
  • Support the specific needs of Live Operations, including Chick, Egg, Feed, and Live Haul delivery schedules.
  • Provide continuous guidance, coaching, and performance feedback to drivers to foster a culture of safety and high performance.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to internal and external partners, vendors, and farm teams to ensure smooth logistics.

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED with 3–5 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or a related field.
  • Proven ability to manage large teams and complex logistics in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Transportation Management Systems, electronic logging (ELD), and Microsoft Office.

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in business, Logistics, or a related field.

Environmental factors and physical requirements:

  • Since Perdue Transportation operates 24/7, this role requires evening and weekend accessibility via phone.
  • Ability to move throughout the facility, including the yard and processing areas, to inspect assets and engage with teams.
  • Exposure to various outdoor weather conditions, dust, livestock environments, and machinery noise.
  • Daily travel to Accomac, VA
