Summary
As a Breeder Farm Technician, you’ll play a key role in supporting the care and productivity of our breeder flocks. In this hands-on position, you’ll help gather eggs, care for hen turkeys, and maintain a clean, well-managed farm environment that supports daily operations. Your attention to detail and commitment to animal care will help ensure consistent, high-quality production while contributing to the overall success of the farm. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands on work, values attention to detail, and wants to make a meaningful impact in a team driven farm environment.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm
Principal Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Travel continuously during shift throughout the hen turkey house on a litter and gravel surface to gather eggs, care for the hen turkeys, and maintain the hen house.
- Push turkeys weighing up to 35 pounds off their nests to gather eggs.
- Pick up eggs from a conveyor belt at a rate of up to 16 eggs per minute.
- Lift items such as litter; feed; and egg baskets weighing up to 80 pounds.
- Move about the turkey hen house to check feeders; clean drinkers; spread litter and other duties necessary to care for the hen turkeys.
Minimum Education and Experience
- Strong reading, communication, math, writing, and analytical skills.
Preferred Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Physical Requirements and Environmental Factors
- In stationary positions or moving for up to 12 hours on a wet, moist, dry, greasy, smooth, rough, and uneven floors which includes concrete or litter surfaces with up to two (2) to four (4) hours in a single interval.
- Ability to work from various ladders.
- Exposure to and work in temperatures of<0 to >100 degrees Fahrenheit with ambient humidity, or dry exposure, noise exposure of <90 db, and light intensity range of <50 to >100 foot candles.
- Bending, twisting, lifting, reaching, sitting, and grasping varies in repetitions, distance, degrees, angle, weight, height, longest interval of time, objects grasped, and body positions depends upon the task being performed.
- Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions.
- Exposure to chlorinated water <50 ppm, ammonia vapors >5 ppm, lubricating oils, hydraulic oils, salt and other chemicals found in a poultry breeder operation.
- Must wear and/or use protective and safety equipment required for the job.
