Summary
The Senior Beed Production and Business Development Manager schedules fresh beef production for plants for Niman Ranch. This includes determining raw input needs, production scheduling, inventory management, liaison with plant personnel, and communicate potential issues with product supply as appropriate to Niman team members. The position also entails weekly coordination with other aspects of beef operations, trade marketing, sales forecasting, allocation communications, innovation, and business development . This post also incorporates industrial sales and the sale of long/frozen inventory.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Manages beef inventory to balance order fulfillment and monitor dated product.
- Communicate Production Plans and Schedules with VP of Beef, Sales, Logistics, and Support Teams.
- Communicates with sales and marketing regarding inventory levels, code date problems, shortages, and unique production requirements (i.e., holiday schedules, plant inspections, audits, etc.).
- Evaluate sales, forecasts, and orders to adjust production as needed.
- Weekly/Monthly pricing review and analysis.
- Position will support business development efforts across all channels at the direction of VP of Beef .
- Sell long/frozen inventory when applicable.
- Provides coverage in scheduling beef production with harvest and fabrication plants, as well as co-packers .
- Manage packing inventory at co-packers to ensure no disruption to production, including label inventory for grinds/case-ready.
- Visits plants during operations to oversee grade, production, and troubleshoot issues that may arise on site.
- Coordinates inbound raw material for scheduled production.
- Manages files of beef product specifications, and manages/submits affidavits before harvest and fabrication.
- Remotely based, monthly travel to Denver office and/or plants
- Ability to travel for production oversight a minimum of 2 times per month.
Minimum Education
- Bachelor's degree in an Agriculture field, Business, or 5+ years of management-level meat experience.
Experience Requirements
- Detail-oriented team player
- 3-5 years experience working with manufacturing processes for prepared meats or fresh meats; preferred experience in beef.
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
