Summary

As an Equipment Maintenance Technician, you will support the safe, efficient, and successful operation of the farm by maintaining equipment, completing preventative maintenance and repairs, and helping ensure the highest standards of animal care. You will help ensure pigs receive proper feed, water, ventilation, and bedding each day while following all NR protocols and guidelines. You will also assist across the farm to complete daily tasks, support production goals, and keep operations running smoothly. This role is ideal for a hands-on, dependable professional who takes pride in maintaining equipment, supporting animal care, and contributing to a team focused on producing healthy pigs and achieving strong farm results.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm

Principal Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining farm infrastructure, including huts, shelters, hoops, buildings, and equipment.
• Safely and efficiently operate farm tractors, loaders, skid steers, feed mixers, manure spreaders, mowers, tillage equipment, and straw equipment.
• Check, prepare, and maintain equipment prior to use.
• Keep accurate service records on all equipment.
• Assist in maintaining a clean and orderly appearance of the farm.
• Assist in monitoring and maintaining the water system.
• Assist in making seasonally appropriate repairs and adjustments to gestation tanks, farrowing huts, wallow plumbing, watering equipment, and water systems.
• Protect the health and safety of staff and ensure the humane treatment of animals.
• Ensure animal pens and handling facilities are in good working order and are routinely cleaned.
• Conserve farm resources, including supplies, equipment, and time.
• Promote cooperation and contribute to adequate staffing.
• Communicate openly and effectively with others.
• Notify management of problems, questions, or concerns and discuss them openly.
• Perform other duties as assigned, requested, or directed by management.
• Develop daily and weekly work schedules for tasks that need to be completed.
• Organize, prioritize, and manage time to maximize work quality and efficiency.
• Demonstrate a positive example of attitude, respect, honesty, integrity, and work ethic.
• Promote cooperation within and across departments through staff and equipment sharing.

Minimum Education and Experience

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with farm equipment, performing maintenance, welding, and related tasks.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Ability to lead by example.
• Ability to problem-solve, think critically, remain goal-oriented, and work as a team player.

Physical Requirements and Environmental Factors

• Work in outdoor weather conditions as seasonal temperatures dictate.
• Wear required safety equipment as designated by management.
• Work on various surfaces, including wet, dry, level, and uneven surfaces, and at varying heights.
• Climb onto forklifts, tractors, trailers, other equipment, and ladders.
• Lift up to 50 pounds.
