Summary
The role of the Maintenance Planner Scheduler is to improve workforce productivity and work quality by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through planning and coordination of manpower, parts and material, and equipment access. Reporting to the “senior-level” Maintenance Planner or the Maintenance Superintendent and maintaining a liaison between Production and Maintenance, this position is responsible for planning, scheduling and coordination of all planned maintenance work performed on the plant site. Through providing work direction to the Maintenance Planning Clerk, this position is also responsible for ensuring records and files essential to meaningful analysis and reporting are compliant.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Act as principal contact and liaison person between Maintenance and Production and other supported departments. In this capacity, this position ensures that all internal customers of Maintenance receive timely, efficient and quality service. This position also takes a continuing interest in customer (internal) needs. With keen awareness of the customers situation (schedule, problems, etc.), the Planner is able to help Production balance their need for daily output with their need of equipment reliability through proactive maintenance.
- Responsible for long-range as well as short-range planning. Long-range planning involves the regular analysis of backlog relative to available resources. These two basic variables must be kept in balance if a proactive maintenance environment is to be established and sustained.
Additional Planning Responsibilities:
- Planning and scheduling for shutdowns (major and minor)
- Bar Charts
- Networks
- Development of model shutdown plans by standard segments
- Development of Planner reference systems including a file of Planned Job Packages for recurring jobs, plus labor and material libraries for each equipment center.
- Keeps the “senior-level” Maintenance Planner and/or Maintenance Superintendent properly informed of abnormal or critical situations and seeks advice on matters outside the Planner's knowledge or authority.
- Makes recommendations for system improvement.
- Promotes the conservation of energy.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Through the Senior Maintenance Planner, responsible for:
- Custodianship of the CMMS
- Maintenance timekeeping, payroll input, and cost distribution
- Maintenance of vacation, absenteeism and tardiness records
- Maintains essential records and files from which this position prepares and distributes accurate and meaningful management reports.
- Interpretation and provision of historical equipment cost information.
- Participation in budgetary preparation, tracking, and analysis.
- Assists the Maintenance Superintendent and Production Manager in periodic analysis of cost trends with recommendations for continual improvement.
- Performs other maintenance related tasks and special assignments as requested by the Maintenance Superintendent or Production Manager.
Minimum Education
- High School diploma or GED.
- Further technical education beyond high school or vocational training (minimum Perdue Maintenance A Mechanic technical and competency knowledge).
- Associate's degree, Bachelor's degree highly preferred.
Experience Requirements
- 2+ years of relevant work experience.
- Thorough working knowledge of Maintenance Software System(s); MS products; specifically, spreadsheet savvy, and working knowledge of Purchasing system and protocol.
- Must be familiar with applicable maintenance verbiage and terminology.
- Demonstrated leadership and influential behaviors.
- Proven oral and written communication skills.
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
- Position is mostly sedentary but may require occasional moving to other offices or buildings.
- May need to move light equipment or supplies from one place to another.
- May need to access files, supplies and equipment.
- Majority of work activity is in an office, clinical environment.
- When in a plant environment:
- Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.
- May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity.
- May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
- May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db.
- May be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility.
