Summary:

Join our team as a Chick Delivery Driver and play a vital role in the beginning of our supply chain by safely and comfortably transporting newly hatched broiler chicks to our contract producers. In this role, you will be responsible for managing specialized transport environments to ensure our chicks arrive healthy and on time. As a trusted partner to our hatchery and farm teams, you will navigate efficient routes while maintaining the highest standards of animal welfare and biosecurity

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare transport vehicles to receive over 100,000 newly hatched chicks, ensuring temperature and airflow are within strict specifications before loading.
  • Navigate safe, cost-efficient routes to contract farms
  • Prioritize the quick and safe delivery of chicks to maintain their health and comfort during transit.
  • Perform routine, minor maintenance and sanitation of transportation vehicles to ensure operational readiness.
  • Monitor, record, and report on specific farm conditions at the time of delivery to support farm operations.
  • Adhere to all FMCSA safe driving requirements, including Hours of Service (HOS) and accurate driver logs.

Required:

  • Valid Class A CDL license
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Minimum of two (2) years of over-the-road tractor-trailer driving experience
  • Proficient reading, writing, and math skills for documentation and recordkeeping

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to operate a standard manual truck for up to 10 hours and operate a forklift as needed
  • Ability to climb trucks in loading areas and utilize tools such as a #5 sledgehammer
  • Exposure to seasonal weather, airborne dust, and high-humidity environments ranging from 28°F to 100°F.
  • Ability to work in noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db while wearing all required personal protective equipment (PPE)
